- Graduate student 400-level course for 4 credits
If a 400-level math class in Course Explorer shows "3 or 4 credit hours", then graduate students may take it for either 3 or 4 credits. To request additional credit, students must first register for the 3-hour section. Because the extra credit hour requires the instructor to prepare additional coursework for the graduate student, this option is offered only at the instructor’s discretion. The professor assigned to the course should then complete and submit the 3 to 4 Credit Hour Request Form between the first day of the semester and the 8th week of the semester.
Notes:
- The Banner system does not allow students to register for two courses with the same number. This situation arises when a student would like to register for two different 595 courses. In this case, please contact Marci Blocher at mblocher@illinois.edu for an override.
- Instructor Approval for Math 597 must be submitted by the faculty member the first time you are taking a reader course with each professor
