
The Department of Mathematics is excited to announce that we have three new staff members joining us this Spring 2025 semester. Victoria Prince is our new Associate Director of NetMath, a newly created position that will be assisting Partha Dey, our current Director of NetMath, in expanding the program. Our Undergraduate office also welcomes two new academic advisors, Stacey Albers and David Hovorka.
Victoria Prince is the new Associate Director for the NetMath program. A proud two-time alum of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Victoria completed both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees here before joining the University in 2021. With a background in student services, academic affairs, and program management, she brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Victoria is excited to leverage her skills and expertise to help expand the reach and impact of the NetMath program.
Stacey Albers, senior academic advisor, is joining the Math department from the Grainger College of Engineering. She was a college advisor in the Undergraduate Programs Office for the last year and a half. Prior to that, she taught math at the junior high and high school levels for 12 years in Champaign and Fisher schools. She earned her BS in Mathematics here at UIUC, obtained her teaching certification through the University of Illinois- Springfield, and her master’s degree in School Counseling from Liberty University.
David Hovorka, junior academic advisor, has taught for over a decade at various institutions of higher education such as Eastern Illinois University, Southern Illinois University – Carbondale, and Loyola University Chicago. In addition, he has provided academic support through tutoring to all types and levels of students. After receiving his B.S. in mathematics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, David pursued his M.A. in mathematics from Eastern Illinois and later attended Southern Illinois University – Carbondale for his M.S.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. David has also developed a passion for social justice and hopes to create an inclusive and welcoming education experience.
