Requirements for graduation with distinction for Mathematics and Computer Science majors

#### Requirements for graduation with distinction for Mathematics majors:

**Distinction**requires a grade point average of 3.25 both in all courses taken at Illinois and in all courses taken at Illinois counting toward the mathematics major.

**High Distinction**requires either- a grade point average of 3.50 both in all courses taken at Illinois and in all courses taken at Illinois counting toward the mathematics major, and in addition a grade of at least B+ in at least two courses chosen from the list below

or - a grade point average of 3.75 both in all courses taken at Illinois and in all courses taken at Illinois counting toward the mathematics major.

- a grade point average of 3.50 both in all courses taken at Illinois and in all courses taken at Illinois counting toward the mathematics major, and in addition a grade of at least B+ in at least two courses chosen from the list below
**Highest Distinction**requires- a grade point average of 3.75 both in all courses taken at Illinois and in all courses taken at Illinois counting toward the mathematics major,
- a grade of at least B+ in at least two courses chosen from the list below

and - completion of an approved senior project, resulting in a paper such as would typically be produced in Math 496 or an REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates)

#### List of math courses used in the criteria for High Distinction and Highest Distinction:

418, 423, 424, 425, 427, 428, 432, 447, 448, 496, any 500 level math course
