Mathematics alum accepts U.S. Presidential Award for Excellence

On May 25, 2022, Robert Megginson (MS, '83, statistics; PhD, '84, mathematics) accepted an award from the White House: the U.S. Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM). Though Megginson was accepting the award on behalf of the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, where he once served as deputy director, Megginson was also an individual recipient of the same award in 1997. The second time crossing the stage to accept a PAESMEM was "just as much of a thrill" as the first, he reports.

More information about Megginson's work with the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute can be found in this article.
