The Executive Committee requests that all faculty members in the department prepare activity reports in preparation for the annual review. The deadline to submit your information for AY2023-2024 is Monday, April 1, 2024

Please read carefully through all the following sections submit your activity report via the submission form linked below. Activity reports submitted through any means other than the submission form will not be evaluated as part of the annual review.

How we use activity reports

The annual review of activity reports by the Executive Committee is part of the mandated activities of the department. The review is the basis for decisions concerning raises and research-based teaching reductions for tenure-stream faculty.

In the event that the College authorizes a merit raise program this year (following the procedures as in the past), the College will reserve a portion of the raise pool for special merit increases. The annual review process will provide the foundation for the selection of a number of colleagues on the basis of outstanding merit or serious inequity to be recommended to the College for special raises.

Barring exceptional circumstances, the EC will allocate a 0% raise for individuals who do not submit an activity report.

What to include in your submission

The Executive Committee will evaluate your accomplishments based almost entirely on the information you provide in your activity report. Thus, everything that you wish to have the committee consider needs to be included in your activity report.

The EC does not look for information from other sources. We strongly encourage you to use the standard LaTeX template when writing your activity report.

Your final submission should be a single PDF that includes:

  • Your 2023–24 activity report
  • A CV with a list of publications
  • Your ICES scores

Please note that, classroom teaching will be evaluated by ICES scores, teaching awards, course developments, and types of courses taught. Please include your ICES scores as a backup for those centrally reported. Effective this academic year (2023–24), the EC will no longer consider the self-inventory of best practices for instruction, or evaluate teaching by other ad-hoc methods.

How we score activity reports

As in prior years, the EC scores annual reports on a 6-point scale, with 3 points assigned for Research, 2 points assigned for Teaching (further subdivided into Teaching:Classroom Instruction and Teaching:Mentoring), and 1 point assigned for Service.

2023-2024 COVID-19 Addendum

The EC recognizes the extraordinary and unprecedented impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on all aspects of professional activity. Course instructional delivery has been modified drastically, research conferences and workshops have been canceled, postponed, or conducted virtually, and unexpected family obligations due to COVID-related shutdowns have impacted productivity. The EC will take the impact of COVID-19 into account when evaluating scholarly activity in the 2023-2024 annual review. This year’s LaTeX template includes a special section where faculty may explicitly describe impacts of COVID-19 on their professional activity during the past years.

Submitting your activity report

The submission process has changed from previous years. Instead of sharing a Box folder, we ask for you to generate a single PDF file containing all your activity report materials and submit it via the submission form.
