URBANA, Ill.— The Department of Mathematics at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, through its combinatorics research training group, is pleased to announce the 2023 Schubert Summer School & Conference.

Schubert Summer School is a 10-day workshop and conference event focusing on Schubert calculus and associated geometry and combinatorics. The event will be held at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from June 12th, 2023, to June 22nd, 2023.

Conference organizer Alex Yong, who is a professor of mathematics at UIUC, says that Schubert Summer School & Conference is an opportunity for academics to learn about this venerable subject from world-class mathematicians, as much as it is an opportunity for researchers and students from around the globe to forge new collaborations.

Organizers plan for the first half of the workshop to consist primarily of several mini-courses and the second half to consist of research talks. Course topics will include tutorials on Schubert varieties, puzzles and Schubert calculus, commutative algebra and Schubert polynomials, equivariant cohomology, and quantum K-theory.

The current list of participants features researchers from Ohio State University, Rutgers University, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, and more.

Interested parties should register for the workshops via the Schubert Summer Conference website by May 14, 2023. To apply for funding, organizers say to register no later than April 14.
