Sowers and students develop algorithm to streamline work of hand-picked crops

Richard Sowers, professor of mathematics and industrial and enterprise systems engineering, along with a team of students have developed an algorithm which will help streamline the workforce of highly perishable hand-picked crops. Although there has been other research on precision agriculture in recent years, this study specifically addresses crops, which are currently picked by hand. See their video "The Smart Strawberry Field." Learn more about Sowers' research in the article "Algorithm could streamline harvesting of hand-picked crops" published by the College of Engineering in March 2018.
