Help keep an Illinois education affordable for deserving students from all income levels, so that they can go on to solve the outstanding mathematical problems of our time. Scholarship funds enable promising students to take advantage of the extraordinary opportunities and innovative programs provided by the Department of Mathematics, and help us to attract the best students to study mathematics at Illinois. All students who are admitted to an undergraduate degree program in the Department of Mathematics (including Actuarial Science) are eligible for a scholarship. The department currently offers four-year $6000/year scholarships.
Illinois Mathematics Excellence Scholarship Fund
Mathematics Outreach Fund
The Department of Mathematics outreach and public engagement activities serve all members of the wider community interested in exploring the creative and discovery-driven nature of mathematical exploration and research. Primary audiences for our outreach activities are elementary, middle and high school children, who we engage with through events such as the Summer Illinois Math (SIM) camp, Sonia Math Days (Saturday workshops), department Open Houses, and classroom visits. The department also engages with adult community members through public lectures and symposia.
Mathematics Graduate Student Support Fund
Graduate students work at the heart of the Department's mission. Your gifts will support summer and academic year research fellowships, mentoring assistantships and school outreach around the state through the Illinois Geometry Lab, women and minority students, Association for Women in Mathematics activities, dissertation awards, professional and career development, and conference travel.
Actuarial Science Alumni Scholarship Fund
We count on the generosity of alumni and friends to support scholarships to attract and support talented students as they embark on a world-class and innovative actuarial education at Illinois.
Reed A. Oei Scholarship Fund
At Illinois, our mission is to give tomorrow's scholars the tools they need to change the world, and we remain grateful to our many alumni and friends who help us along the way. The Reed A. Oei scholarship, named for a budding mathematician who showed incredible research prowess as an undergraduate student at Illinois, was established by Reed's family in 2022. This fund provides scholarships to undergraduate math majors interested in research. For more information about the life and legacy of Reed Oei, visit reedoei.com.
