H. Roy Brahana and Mathematics Instructional Awards

The funds shall be used to (1) annually award the H. Roy Brahana Prize in Mathematics to an outstanding student, undergraduate or graduate, with excellence in mathematics, without regard to the college or curriculum in which the student is enrolled; and (2) to annually award one or more outstanding teaching assistant(s) in mathematics with instructional awards.

Irving Reiner Memorial Award

The Fund shall be used to provide awards to one or more graduate students who are enrolled in the field of algebra in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Illinois.

Kuo-Tsai Chen Award in Mathematics Fund

Funds shall be used to provide an award to a graduate student who has completed at least one year of graduate work toward the Ph.D. degree in the Department of Mathematics at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The award shall be given in the spring of odd-numbered years beginning in 1989.

Paul T. Bateman Number Theory Prize

Funds shall be used to provide financial awards for students who have completed their doctoral studies in the Department of Mathematics in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Philippe Tondeur Dissertation Prize

Funds shall be used to recognize students in their final year of the Department of Mathematics Ph.D. program.

Wolfgang Haken Prize in Geometry and Topology

Awarded annually for outstanding research in geometry and topology, broadly construed. Eligible areas of research include any topics where geometry or topology plays a significant role. Eligibility is open to all current U of I mathematics PhD students.
