On August 3–6, 2022, actuarial industry professionals, educators, and researchers alike will convene to discuss topics of interest in all areas of actuarial science at the I Hotel & Conference Center in Champaign, IL. The conference will kick off with a reception on Wednesday, August 3. Conference sessions will be held throughout the day on Thursday and Friday (August 4 and 5), and the conference will conclude after a series of morning sessions on Saturday, August 6.
Among the keynote speakers are Lisa Groshong, a communication research scientist for the Center for Insurance Policy and Research and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners; Qihe Tang, professor of actuarial science at UNSW Sydney; and Ken Seng Tan, president's chair professor in actuarial risk management and deputy division head for actuarial science in banking and finance at Nanyang Technological University.
The president-elect and vice chair of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) John W. Robinson is a listed banquet speaker, alongside Roosevelt Mosley, president-elect of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
The conference program also features several invited sessions (sponsored the SOA, Casualty Actuarial Society, and Carpe Data), a mini-workshop on smart contract and decentralized insurance, and social events for participants. The conference organizers encourage University of Illinois faculty and alumni to attend, to network with the next generation of actuarial professionals, learn about the latest innovations in actuarial science, and perhaps even explore industry and university collaborations. Participants may earn approximately 24 continuing professional development credits by attending this event.
