Research Description

My area of study is geometric group theory with a focus on mapping class groups. My advisor is Chris Leininger.

My research is aimed at understanding pure surfaces braid groups. I recently proved upper and lower bounds on the least dilatation of pseudo-Anosov pure surface braids and I am currently exploring the structure of subgroups of pure surface braid groups.

I have also started to think about the large scale geometry of infinite type surfaces. I am particularly interested in the action of the mapping class group of an infinite type surface (i.e. the big mapping class group) on various complexes of curves.
